Listen Project captures fears, trauma and hopes of disadvantaged pupils

Children given a voice through writing initiative

Our Listen Project captures fears, trauma and hopes of disadvantaged pupils in Gqeberha communities.

A Gqeberha couple has stepped in to give a voice to children from disadvantaged communities to help them overcome their struggles and strive to attain their goals.

The Listen Project, a registered NPO run by the Libbo Foundation, is a school-based initiative  founded in 2020 by poet and educator Selwyn Milborrow and his wife, Sharon Liberty, which was born in response to ongoing gun violence in the northern areas of Gqeberha.

The Libbo Foundation is proud to collaborate with Masiphatisane Senior Secondary School on a special initiative that celebrates learner creativity and storytelling. Through essays, poetry, and art, learners share their unique perspectives. We are now in the process of editing, designing, and finalising their work into a published book.

As part of our commitment to this community-driven project, we provide 100 copies of the book to the school at no cost. The school will then sell these books as a fundraising effort, helping to support its needs.

The Libbo Foundation gains no financial benefit from this project - our sole mission is to empower young voices and foster creativity. To bring this vision to life, we kindly appeal to you for financial support. Your contribution will directly help fund the production of these books.

For transparency, our financials are audited by Mabcon Accountants. If you would like to contribute, please find our banking details below:

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. Thank you for considering this opportunity to support young storytellers and help Masiphatisane Senior Secondary School thrive.
